Andrew Scott on The Ownership Journey Podcast
As an entrepreneur, I’ve always believed the most valuable business lessons come from real experience. That’s why I was delighted to join James Lamb on The Ownership Journey Podcast to discuss entrepreneurship, business growth, leadership and the realities of building, scaling and rebuilding businesses.
The Ownership Journey explores what really happens before, during and after business ownership. Hosted by entrepreneur James Lamb, each episode features honest conversations with business owners, operators and advisers who have experienced the challenges of growing companies, acquiring businesses, navigating turnarounds and planning successful exits. It’s a refreshing approach that focuses on real-world experience rather than theory, making it an invaluable resource for entrepreneurs and business leaders alike.
It was a privilege to share my own experiences and contribute to a conversation that I hope will encourage and inspire others on their own business journey.
Entrepreneurship, business growth and leadership
During the conversation, James and I explored the experiences that have shaped my career, from the early challenges that influenced my mindset to the opportunities that helped me build and grow multiple businesses.
Rather than focusing solely on success, we discussed the realities of entrepreneurship – making difficult decisions, overcoming setbacks, developing resilience and learning lessons that can only come from experience. These are the conversations I believe business owners benefit from most because they reflect what entrepreneurship really looks like behind the scenes.
The lessons behind the journey
One of the things I enjoyed most about speaking with James was the opportunity to talk openly about the principles that have guided me throughout my career.
We explored topics including purpose, leadership, business strategy, building high-performing teams and creating businesses that are designed for sustainable, long-term growth. We also discussed how challenges and setbacks can often become the catalyst for innovation, better decision-making and stronger leadership.
I won’t give away all of the stories here – after all, that’s what the podcast is for – but I hope listeners take away practical ideas they can apply to their own businesses.
Why conversations like this matter
There is no single blueprint for building a successful business.
Every entrepreneur faces different challenges, but one thing I’ve learned is that we often grow the most through sharing experiences with others who have faced similar situations.
That’s one of the reasons I enjoy podcasts like The Ownership Journey. They create space for honest conversations about business ownership, leadership and entrepreneurship without pretending the journey is always straightforward. If sharing my experiences helps another entrepreneur think differently, overcome a challenge or keep moving forward, then it’s a conversation worth having.
